Tennis elbow
Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is a painful condition caused by inflammation of the tendons in the elbow. It occurs due to repetitive wrist and arm movements, leading to tiny tears in the tendons that attach to the outer elbow.
Despite the name, you don’t have to play tennis to get tennis elbow! It’s common in anyone who does repetitive arm motions.
Causes of Tennis Elbow:
🏸 Repetitive Arm Movements – Tennis, badminton, golf, weightlifting.
💻 Overuse of Hands/Wrists – Typing, writing, knitting, or painting.
🔨 Heavy Manual Work – Carpentry, plumbing, or construction jobs.
🎸 Musical Instrument Use – Guitarists, violinists, and drummers.
Symptoms of Tennis Elbow:
💢 Pain on the outer side of the elbow
🖐 Weak grip strength (shaking hands or holding objects is painful)
📌 Pain while lifting, gripping, or twisting (e.g., turning a doorknob, holding a coffee cup)
🏋 Worsens with activity & improves with rest
