Prolapse
What is Prolapse?
Prolapse occurs when an organ or tissue falls out of its normal position due to weakened muscles or connective tissues. It most commonly affects the pelvic organs (uterus, bladder, rectum) but can also occur in other body parts like the intestines or heart valves.
Types of Prolapse:
Uterine Prolapse – The uterus drops into the vagina.
Bladder Prolapse (Cystocele) – The bladder bulges into the vaginal wall.
Rectal Prolapse – The rectum protrudes outside the anus.
Vaginal Prolapse – The top of the vagina collapses downward.
Anal Prolapse – The rectal lining slips out of place.
Mitral Valve Prolapse (Heart Condition) – A heart valve doesn’t close properly.
