Pimple scar & Pigmentation

Pimple Scars

Pimple scars occur when the skin’s healing process after acne is disrupted. There are different types:

🔹 Atrophic Scars (Depressed Scars): These scars cause indentations in the skin and are common after severe acne.

  • Ice Pick Scars: Deep and narrow scars.
  • Boxcar Scars: Wider, rectangular depressions.
  • Rolling Scars: Wavy, shallow indentations.

🔹 Hypertrophic Scars: Raised, thick scars due to excessive collagen production.

Pigmentation (Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation)

This is the darkening of the skin in areas where acne has healed, often appearing as flat spots. It’s caused by increased melanin production due to skin inflammation.
