A peptic ulcer is a painful sore that develops on the inner lining of the stomach, small intestine (duodenum), or esophagus due to excessive acid production. It can cause burning stomach pain, indigestion, and complications if left untreated.

Gastric Ulcer – Forms in the stomach
Duodenal Ulcer – Forms in the first part of the small intestine (duodenum)
Esophageal Ulcer – Develops in the esophagus


🔹 Causes of Peptic Ulcers

🦠 H. Pylori Infection – A bacterial infection that weakens the stomach lining
💊 NSAIDs Overuse – Painkillers like ibuprofen, aspirin, and naproxen can erode the stomach lining
Excessive Acid Production – Caused by stress, spicy food, or alcohol
🚬 Smoking & Alcohol – Increases stomach acid and slows healing
🍽️ Skipping Meals & Irregular Eating Habits – Causes acid imbalance
🤕 Stomach Trauma or Surgery – Can lead to ulcer formation


🔹 Symptoms of Peptic Ulcers

🔥 Burning or gnawing stomach pain (especially on an empty stomach)
🤢 Nausea & vomiting
🤮 Vomiting blood (severe cases)
💨 Bloating & frequent burping
🌙 Pain worsens at night or between meals
🛑 Dark or bloody stools (a sign of internal bleeding)
