Scoliosis
What is Scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that often develops during childhood or adolescence. The spine may curve in an “S” or “C” shape, leading to postural changes, back pain, and uneven shoulders or hips.
Types of Scoliosis:
1️⃣ Idiopathic Scoliosis – Most common type, cause unknown (often develops in children & teens).
2️⃣ Congenital Scoliosis – Present at birth due to spine malformations.
3️⃣ Neuromuscular Scoliosis – Caused by conditions like cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy.
4️⃣ Degenerative Scoliosis – Occurs in adults due to aging, arthritis, or disc degeneration.
Symptoms of Scoliosis:
Uneven shoulders or hips
One side of the back sticks out more (rib hump)
Leaning to one side
Difficulty standing straight
Back pain & stiffness (more common in adults)
Breathing issues (severe cases where ribs press on lungs)
