Osteo arthritis

What is Osteoarthritis (OA)?

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disease caused by the gradual breakdown of cartilage in the joints. This leads to pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced flexibility. It is the most common type of arthritis, often called “wear and tear arthritis,” and it mostly affects the knees, hips, hands, and spine.

Causes & Risk Factors of OA:

🦴 Aging – Cartilage naturally wears down over time.
⚖️ Obesity – Extra weight puts stress on joints, especially knees.
🤕 Joint Injuries – Previous fractures or trauma can lead to OA.
🏃 Repetitive Movements – Jobs or sports that overuse certain joints.
🧬 Genetics – Family history can increase the risk.
🦠 Inflammation & Metabolic Diseases – Diabetes or chronic inflammation can contribute.
